Beaches in the Area
Why not hire an additional front basket or pannier bags with your e-bike, put your swimming gear inside, leave the car at home and head for some of the best beaches in the country. No traffic jams in the lanes, no circling the car park for a space and no extortionate parking charges. Sounds good? Here are just a few in the area accessible by bike.
Thurlestone & South Milton Sands
Large sandy beach. Can be reached by bike from Thurlestone, South Milton or South Huish. Can’t beat a glass of wine from the Beachhouse at sunset.

Bantham
Superb, sandy surfing hotspot. One of our favourites. Great views of Burgh Island. Good pub in village.
Bigbury-On-Sea & Burgh Island
Burgh Island makes this beach worth a visit by itself plus it has one of the oldest pubs in Devon but make sure you go at low tide!

Mill Bay & Sunny Cove - Salcombe
Across the water from Salcombe this is a popular beach with ferry car and bike access.
North & South Sands - Salcombe
Fairly small, sandy beaches at the entrance to Salcombe Harbour. Food and drinks available at both.
